چکیده
Extreme skin depth engineering (e-skid) can be applied to integrated photonics manipulate the evanescent field of a waveguide. Here we demonstrate that e-skid implemented in two directions order deterministically engineer wave allowing for dense integration with enhanced functionalities. In particular, by increasing depth, enable creation large gap, bendless directional couplers operational bandwidth. experimentally validate two-dimensional CMOS foundry and strong coupling gap 1.44 {\mu}m.

Photonics design tool for advanced CMOS nodes
Recently, the authors have demonstrated large-scale integrated systems with several million transistors and hundreds of photonic elements. Yielding such large-scale integrated systems requires a design-for-manufacture rigour that is embodied in the 10 000 to 50 000 design rules that these designs must comply within advanced complementary metal-oxide semiconductor manufacturing. Here, the author...
متن کاملThree?Dimensional Nanostructures for Photonics
Recent progress in direct laser writing of three-dimensional (3D) polymer nanostructures for photonics is reviewed. This technology has reached a level of maturity at which it can be considered as the 3D analogue of planar electron-beam lithography. Combined with atomic-layer deposition and/or chemical-vapor deposition of dielectrics—the 3D analogues of planar evaporation technologies, the 3D p...
متن کاملEngineering integrated photonics for heralded quantum gates
Scaling up linear-optics quantum computing will require multi-photon gates which are compact, phase-stable, exhibit excellent quantum interference, and have success heralded by the detection of ancillary photons. We investigate the design, fabrication and characterisation of the optimal known gate scheme which meets these requirements: the Knill controlled-Z gate, implemented in integrated lase...
متن کاملExtreme paths in oriented two-dimensional percolation
A useful result about leftmost and rightmost paths in two dimensional bond percolation is proved. This result was introduced without proof in [5] in the context of the contact process in continuous time. As discussed here, it also holds for several related models, including the discrete time contact process and two dimensional site percolation. Among the consequences are a natural monotonicity ...
متن کاملTwo-dimensional advection-dispersion equation with depth- dependent variable source concentration
The present work solves two-dimensional Advection-Dispersion Equation (ADE) in a semi-infinite domain. A variable source concentration is regarded as the monotonic decreasing function at the source boundary (x=0). Depth-dependent variables are considered to incorporate real life situations in this modeling study, with zero flux condition assumed to occur at the exit boundary of the domain, i.e....
